Extended story: Harbour-facing office renewal
A mid-size professional firm asked Clouddatasuite to audit costs on a phased office renewal with a live budget near HK$52 million. Three main contracts sat under one cost report, and the steering group wanted assurance before approving a late variation cluster.
Over five weeks we reconciled the approved budget book to the live forecast, tested payment applications above a materiality threshold, and traced fifteen sampled invoices through purchase orders and ledger postings. Exceptions included an unapproved furniture package coded to a contingency line and a retention release booked earlier than the certificate allowed.
The final report gave the finance committee a clear yes/no list on the variation cluster. Two items were deferred pending commercial negotiation; the remainder proceeded. The client noted that week-two document chasing had been the friction point — a useful lesson for their next programme.
